Say Hello to Our Board.

Running a Non-Profit can be challenging, yet rewarding work. However, the task of keeping our team on track must be fully credited to our Board of Directors. Our board ensures smooth sailing for all business endeavors past and present.

Meet Our Chairs:

Jill Benett

Chair of the Board

I believe it is my duty to be a courageous champion for all children. I believe I must challenge the status quo by inspiring a sense of hope, excitement and passion for personal and professional change in all with whom I work.

As an Educational Consultant with a wealth of experience in the publicly funded and private school sectors, I work to facilitate partnerships with parents, school personnel and community support agencies to advocate for the well-being and learning needs of children and youth through ongoing communication, cooperation, active participation and sharing of responsibility in engaging and well advised learning and support programs.

Meet the Board:

Nick Quain

Board Member

Nick is Vice President of Venture Development at Invest Ottawa, where he leads all programming and support for start-up, early stage and growth companies alike, while supporting Ottawa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem as a whole.

Previously as CEO of CellWand, he drove all development, strategy and execution, where we pioneered the use of abbreviated dialing codes in North America with the award winning #TAXI (Pound Taxi) service and subsequently in the mobile transportation space, with The Ride app.

Highlights included raising several million in capital, closing industry first deals with every major wireless carrier in North America and pioneering a marketing strategy that made #TAXI a national brand used over 16 million times- (and counting), while propelling CellWand to profitability and millions in revenue.

Nick was inspired to join Generate U’s Board because he has three young sons of his own he’d like to see grow up with the self-awareness, self-confidence and skills that Generate U’s programming is helping create in the lives of its participants.

Roy Lamond

Board Member

With over 25 years of experience, Roy has supported organizations to develop and execute strategic vision, manage organisational change, grow revenue and impact, and lead multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed teams.

Roy is committed to collaboratively solving challenges - the gender equality gap, the digital divide, climate change, destruction of the environment, and human displacement.

Youth are well-positioned to help solve these challenges and Roy is drawn to the Generate U mission of supporting all youth to realize their full potential.
